Every coaching software free trial, compared before you sign up in 2026.
Before you start a trial, two questions decide most of it: how long does it run, and does it take a card up front. Then two more that catch people out: what actually unlocks while you are in it, and what happens the day it ends. We checked all four on the vendor's own live site for eight coaching platforms - Trainerize, Everfit, TrueCoach, My PT Hub, PT Distinction, Hevy Coach, Kahunas, and Coachway - so you can read the table, pick a shortlist, and spend the trial testing the tool instead of decoding the terms.

How this comparison is made: we check every competitor's pricing and features against their live websites and re-verify them on a recurring basis. We build Coachway, so we flag it wherever it appears, we credit real competitor strengths, and we say who each platform fits better than us. Browse all platform comparisons.
If you already know you want the plan, logged sessions, check-ins, and payments in one place, start the trial and program one real week.

Length: Trainerize, Everfit, My PT Hub, and Hevy Coach run 30 days; PT Distinction runs a month; TrueCoach, Kahunas, and Coachway run 14 days. Card: Trainerize, Everfit, TrueCoach, My PT Hub, and Hevy Coach say no card is required to start; Coachway takes a card up front but charges nothing on day one and lets you cancel under Billing; PT Distinction and Kahunas do not state it clearly, so check on their site.
The number that matters more than either is what unlocks and what happens after. A no-card trial that hides the branded app, or that drops you to a 1-client free plan on day 31, is not the win the headline suggests. Read the full table below, then use the trial to run one real client end to end. If you want to see all the free options first, our best free coaching apps guide covers the forever-free tiers.
A free trial is four facts, not one.
Trial pages lead with a big day count and a "no credit card" line, because those lower the barrier to clicking. They are worth knowing, but the two facts that decide whether the trial was useful are what you can touch inside it and what the tool does to your account when the clock runs out. Line all four up before you commit:
Trial length
How many days you get. Useful, but overrated: 14 days is enough to run one client through a full week and a check-in, and a month you never properly use just postpones the decision.
Credit card required
Whether you hand over a card to start. A no-card trial lowers the barrier; a card-required trial usually means a fully live account from minute one. Neither is a red flag if the terms are plain and cancelling is easy.
What unlocks
Whether the trial gives you the features you are buying - branded app, automations, client billing - or hides them behind the paid tier. A trial that locks the thing you came to test is not a trial of that thing.
What happens after
On the last day, does it convert to paid, drop to a limited free plan, or stop? A silent auto-convert is a surprise charge; a drop to a 1-client free tier is fine only if you knew it was coming.
If you are weighing the wider decision of a free tool versus a paid one, our guide to the free trial versus paid trial in online coaching covers it from the coach's side, and the full coaching software pricing breakdown shows what each tier costs once the trial ends.

Every cell was read on the vendor's own live site on 22 August 2026. Where a platform did not state something plainly on its public pages, we say "see [domain]" rather than guess. Trial terms change often, so confirm the current offer on the provider's own page before you sign up. For where these tools sit overall, not just on trials, see our best online coaching platforms guide.
Card or no card is a choice about your account, not a trust test.
The "no credit card" line is the most-clicked promise in this category, and several platforms here lead with it. It genuinely lowers the barrier to looking, which for a coach who just wants a poke around is exactly right. But a no-card trial and a card-required trial are usually two different kinds of account. A no-card trial often runs on a limited or sandbox version, so some of what you came to test can sit behind the paid tier and you rebuild parts of your setup when you decide to stay. A card-required trial points the other way: payment is already attached, so the account you use during the trial is the live one, and what you build in it is what you keep.
Coachway sits in the card-required camp, and it is worth being plain about why. It asks for a card to start the 14-day trial, and nothing is charged on day one. You get your full, live account with every feature from the first minute, so the client you onboard, the plan you build, and the payment link you set up through your own Stripe are all real and stay in place if you keep going. You cancel anytime under Billing before the trial ends, and if you forget and cancel a little late, Coachway will refund you. The card is not a lock-in device; it is what makes the trial the real thing rather than a preview you redo later.
The honest test is one real client, end to end, inside two weeks.

The mistake almost everyone makes is spending the trial clicking through settings and admiring the dashboard, then signing up on a feeling. The better use of the days is to run one real client through the exact loop you will repeat every week. If the tool holds up across that loop, it fits. Work through these five in order:
- Build one real week of programming. Not a demo template - a genuine training or nutrition week the way you would write it for a paying client. This is where you find out whether the builder speaks your language or fights you on every session.
- Put a client in the app. Invite one real client, or a friend standing in as one, and watch what they see on their phone. The client-side experience is half of what you are buying, and you cannot judge it from the coach view alone.
- Have them log a session and message you. The whole point of a platform is that what the client does comes back to you. Confirm a logged workout, a food entry, or a check-in reply lands where you expect, in one place, without a screenshot chase.
- Run one check-in. Fill in whatever form or review the tool uses for a weekly check-in, from both sides. This is the rhythm of the coaching relationship, so a clumsy check-in flow is a clumsy every week.
- Set up how you get paid. Create the payment or subscription the way a real client would pay you, and note whose account collects the money and what fee sits on top. Payments are the part coaches most often leave untested and most regret later.
Do all five with one client and you will know inside a few days, on any of these platforms, whether it is the tool you want at forty clients. A trial that survives one real client survives your client list.
Three trial traps to watch for.
None of the platforms here is trying to trick you, but every trial model has an edge case that catches people who did not read past the headline. Know these three going in:
The silent auto-convert date
Some trials, especially card-required ones, roll straight into a paid subscription on the last day unless you cancel. That is normal and fine when the date and the cancel path are obvious. The trap is not knowing the exact day and where the cancel button lives. The moment you start any trial, put the end date in your calendar and find the cancel control before you need it. On Coachway that control lives under Billing, and a late cancel is refunded.
The feature-locked trial
A trial is only useful if it unlocks the thing you are evaluating. If a branded app, automations, or client billing are the reason you are switching, confirm they are inside the trial and not gated to a higher tier you cannot see yet. Testing everything except the feature you care about tells you nothing about the decision you are actually making.
The drop to a crippled free plan
A few no-card trials end by downgrading you to a limited free tier rather than charging you. Trainerize reverts to a 1-client free plan and My PT Hub downgrades to a Free plan. That is genuinely convenient if you expected it, and a nasty surprise if you had five clients set up and suddenly only one still fits. Read the "what happens after" line before you build your whole client list inside a trial.
Frequently asked.
Which coaching software has the longest free trial?
Among the platforms compared here, the longest self-serve trials run 30 days: Trainerize, Everfit, My PT Hub, and Hevy Coach. PT Distinction runs a 1-month trial, while TrueCoach, Kahunas, and Coachway run 14 days. Longer is not automatically better. A 14-day window is enough to run one real client through a full week and a check-in, which is the test that tells you whether the tool fits, and a 30-day trial you never properly use just delays the decision.
Do you need a credit card to start a coaching software free trial?
It depends on the platform, so check before you sign up. As of August 2026, Trainerize, TrueCoach, My PT Hub, Hevy Coach, and Everfit state that no card is required to begin. Coachway asks for a card up front, charges nothing on day one, and lets you cancel under Billing before the 14 days are up. PT Distinction and Kahunas do not state the requirement clearly on their public pages, so confirm on their own site. A card-required trial is not a trap in itself, as long as the terms are plain and cancelling is easy.
What is the catch with a no-credit-card free trial?
Usually one of two things. The first is a feature-locked trial: you get in without a card, but the parts you most need to test, like a branded app, automations, or client billing, sit behind the paid tier. The second is the drop to a limited free plan when the trial ends. Trainerize reverts to a 1-client free plan and My PT Hub downgrades to a Free plan, which is fine if you expected it and a surprise if you did not. Read what unlocks during the trial and what happens the day after, not just the headline day count.
Does Coachway have a free trial, and does it require a card?
Yes. Coachway runs a 14-day free trial with every feature included, and it does ask for a card to start. Nothing is charged on day one, you can cancel anytime under Billing before the trial ends, and if you cancel a little late Coachway will refund you. Taking a card up front means your account is fully live from the first minute, so the client you set up, the plan you built, and the payment link you created are all real and stay in place if you keep going.
What should I actually test during a coaching software free trial?
Run one real client through a full week end to end, rather than clicking around the settings. Build a real training or nutrition week, invite one client (or a friend) to the app, have them log a session and send a message, run a check-in, and set up how you would get paid. If the tool holds up across that loop, it fits how you work. If it breaks or annoys you on the first real client, it will not get better at the fortieth.
