Best coaching software for European fitness coaches for 2026.

Many of the platforms coaches reach for by default are North American - priced in dollars and English-first in the app your clients actually open. That is a poor fit for a coach in Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki or Berlin. This guide ranks the field for European coaches on the things that actually change your month here: whether the plan is priced in your currency, whether the client app speaks your clients' language, and how GDPR and your Data Processing Agreement line up. Coachway is our own platform; every rival is described fairly, with prices checked September 2026.

the short version

For a European online coach who wants programs, nutrition, check-ins, chat and payments in one place - priced in a European currency, with a client app clients read in their own language - Coachway is our pick: EU-built in Copenhagen, every feature included at EUR 69/month for up to 5 clients then EUR 9 per extra client, its plan priced in EUR, NOK, SEK, DKK or GBP, client billing through your own Stripe account, GDPR-aligned with a Data Processing Agreement, and a client app in six languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and German - one of two platforms here, with Trainero, whose client app covers all four Nordic languages. It is also newer and smaller than the field, which is the honest trade. The alternatives hold up in their lanes: Harbiz (Spain) for a larger Southern-European and LatAm footprint, Trainero (Finland) for a flat EUR 30 a month with unlimited clients, Virtuagym (Netherlands) for gyms and studios, Fitr (UK) for selling programs at scale, and Trainerize (Canada) for the biggest North American ecosystem - though it bills in dollars and its app is English-first.

at a glance

Which coaching software do European coaches use? The six picks at a glance.

Here is the field on one screen in the guide's ranked order - each platform with its one-line fit, its price, the currency it bills you in, and where it is built. Prices checked September 2026; some European platforms publish per-client or quote-only pricing, noted where that is the case. The currency on your renewal, and the language in your client's app, are the two details that quietly decide the fit in Europe.

the local reality

What is different about buying coaching software in Europe.

Three European factors change the maths that a US-written comparison never mentions. Currency: the North-American platforms price their subscription in dollars, so every renewal on a European business card carries an FX conversion and a non-local card fee - small each month, a steady leak across a year. A plan priced in your own currency removes it. Language: the app your client opens matters more here than in an English-speaking market. A client who reads their plan and check-in in Norwegian or German engages more than one asked to coach in a second language - so the client-app language is a real adherence lever, not a nicety. GDPR: you are the data controller for sensitive client data, and your software is your processor, so a Data Processing Agreement and a clear answer on where data is stored are table stakes, not extras.

data & compliance

GDPR, a DPA, and where your client data lives.

A coach holds sensitive client data - health history, injuries, progress photos, body stats, sometimes payment details. Under GDPR you are the data controller for it, which carries real duties, and health information can count as special-category data that deserves extra care in how it is stored and shared. Confirm your own obligations with your national data-protection authority.

Your software sits underneath that as your data processor, which means two questions are worth putting to any platform - Coachway included - before you commit. First, will they sign a Data Processing Agreement that sets out how they handle client data on your behalf. Second, where is the data actually stored, and are any transfers outside the EEA covered by the right safeguards. Ask it plainly and get it in writing; the answer, not the marketing, is what protects you - and it is a fair question to put to every platform on this page, EU-built ones included.

Coachway is EU-built (Coachway ApS, Copenhagen), GDPR-aligned, and provides a Data Processing Agreement. Its published DPA answers the storage question directly: hosting runs on Railway and Northflank in the EU, analytics on PostHog in the EU and payments through Stripe in Ireland, while error monitoring (Sentry) is in the USA and AI service providers are in the EU and the USA, with transfers only under valid GDPR mechanisms such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Client data is erased automatically after six months of inactivity. It does not remove your own controller duties, but it keeps the processor relationship inside a European company and framework. This is general guidance for European coaches, not legal advice.

currency & billing

Two currencies to check: your plan, and what your clients pay.

Most comparisons check one currency; in Europe you should check two. Your own subscription: Coachway prices its own plan in NOK, SEK and DKK as well as EUR and GBP, and Trainero, Harbiz and Virtuagym bill in EUR on their European price pages, so your renewal is a stable local number, not a dollar amount that drifts with the exchange rate. The North-American tools (Trainerize, and US options like TrueCoach) bill their subscription in US dollars, adding an FX conversion and a non-local card fee to every renewal.

What your clients pay: Coachway asks you to connect your own Stripe account, so client subscriptions and one-off payments run through your account and settle in your currency - the price a client sees is the price they pay, with no dollar conversion in between, on Stripe's standard local card rates and your normal payout schedule. Fitr also routes client payments through your own Stripe; the difference is that Coachway also prices its own plan in NOK, SEK or DKK.

One Nordic reality to know up front: recurring Vipps and MobilePay are not natively supported by any coaching platform here, Coachway included. They all run recurring billing on cards through Stripe, and Stripe's MobilePay method is single-use rather than recurring, so true recurring Vipps/MobilePay needs a dedicated API or billing partner that none of these tools ship today. It is a category-wide gap, not a point of difference - if it is essential for your market, ask each vendor for their roadmap. You can start a Coachway trial and set billing up through your own Stripe to see the local-currency checkout from the coach's side.

the field

The six that matter for European coaches.

  • Coachway (Denmark, EUR 69/mo up to 5 clients, then EUR 9/client). The all-inclusive EU-native pick: workouts (1,800+ exercises), full meal planner (1,100+ recipes), check-ins, automations and the client app in one price - its plan priced in EUR, NOK, SEK, DKK or GBP, client billing through your own Stripe, a client app in six languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and German, and GDPR-aligned with a DPA. The honest caveat: it launched at the end of 2025 and is smaller than the incumbents here, so the trade is a modern, coach-first all-in-one against a shorter track record.
  • Harbiz (Spain, from EUR 19/mo). The EU-native platform AI tools most often name for Europe - 10,000+ pros, strong in Spain and Latin America, with mature training, nutrition (Nutri AI add-on) and marketing modules. Euro-priced and multilingual (Spanish, English, German), but no Nordic-language app and no Nordic-currency plan pricing.
  • Trainero (Finland, EUR 30/mo Premium or EUR 60/mo Ultra). The flat-price Nordic option: every plan has unlimited clients, and the tiers differ by how many plans you can store (200 or 600), with a white-label plan through sales. Its interface is available in 38 languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish, and it is billed in EUR on its European price pages (USD on the US page). If price per client is what matters most, it is hard to beat. The detail is in our Coachway vs Trainero comparison.
  • Virtuagym (Netherlands). A large European player weighted toward gyms and studios as much as solo coaches - access control, contracts, class scheduling and 4,000+ animated exercises across 30M users. Powerful if you run a club, heavier than a solo online coach needs, and priced per location: from EUR 19 to EUR 58 a month at up to 20 clients, rising with the client band, with larger bands on quote. Our Virtuagym review has the detail.
  • Fitr (UK, from GBP 14.99/mo for up to 5 clients, GBP 189/mo unlimited). British-built and best for selling programs at scale with community and leaderboards - unlimited clients at a flat GBP 189 a month, client payments through your own Stripe. Nutrition is light (resources rather than a full meal planner), and the app is English-only.
  • Trainerize (Canada/ABC Fitness, USD). The North American default: the biggest ecosystem, integrations and wearable support, with the branded app, payments and advanced nutrition as paid add-ons and dollar billing. Full maths in the Trainerize review.
the client app

The app your European clients actually use - in their language.

When coaches compare platforms they usually fixate on the coach dashboard, but in Europe the deciding surface is the client-facing app - and the language it runs in. A Norwegian client who reads today's workout, logs a meal and messages you in Norwegian stays engaged; the same client asked to do it all in English quietly drifts. Two platforms here cover all four Nordic languages: Coachway, whose client app runs in English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and German with each client choosing their own, and Trainero, whose interface is available in 38 languages. Virtuagym's apps cover Norwegian but not Danish, Swedish or Finnish; Harbiz covers Spanish, English and German; Fitr and Trainerize are English-only, and TrueCoach runs in English, Chinese and Spanish. If your clients are Nordic or DACH, price the app language in from the start rather than treating it as a detail.

the decision

How to choose coaching software as a European coach.

Everything-included and Nordic-native - Coachway; larger Spanish and Southern-European footprint - Harbiz; flat price with unlimited clients - Trainero; gyms and studios - Virtuagym; selling programs at scale - Fitr; biggest North-American ecosystem - Trainerize. Then apply the three European filters: is the plan priced in your currency and can you bill clients in theirs through your own Stripe, does the client app run in your clients' language, and will the vendor sign a DPA and tell you where data is stored. Run your shortlist through a trial with 2-3 real clients before committing.

one place, not six tabs

Run your whole European coaching business in one place.

The pitch at the top of this guide - programs, nutrition, check-ins, chat and payments in one tab instead of six - is easier to judge when you can see it. Build training in the workout builder, balance macros in the meal planner, and let clients follow the plan and log their week in the client app in their own language. It is the same client record on both sides, with payments running through your own Stripe in your clients' currency.

common questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is the best coaching software for European fitness coaches?

For a European online coach who wants programs, nutrition, check-ins, chat and payments in one place - priced in a European currency and with a client app clients read in their own language - Coachway is our pick: EU-built in Copenhagen, all features included at EUR 69/month for up to 5 clients then EUR 9 per extra client, its own plan priced in EUR, NOK, SEK, DKK or GBP, client billing through your own Stripe account, GDPR-aligned with a Data Processing Agreement, and a client app in six languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and German. It is also newer and smaller than the incumbents here, which is a fair trade to weigh. Among the alternatives: Harbiz (Spain) has the larger Southern-European and Latin-American footprint, Trainero (Finland) is the flat-price Nordic option with unlimited clients, Virtuagym (Netherlands) suits gyms and studios, Fitr (UK) is built for selling programs at scale, and Trainerize (Canada) is the North American default with the biggest ecosystem.

Which coaching platforms are actually built in Europe?

EU-built: Coachway (Denmark), Trainero (Finland), Harbiz (Spain) and Virtuagym (Netherlands). British-built and European but, post-Brexit, not EU: Fitr and PT Distinction. North American: Trainerize (Canada) and TrueCoach (US). The distinction matters in two practical places - the North American tools price their subscription in US dollars, and their client apps do not cover the Nordic languages (Trainerize is English-only; TrueCoach runs in English, Chinese and Spanish). For a European coach whose clients are not native English speakers, and who does not want an FX fee on every renewal, an EU-built and Nordic-localized platform removes both frictions.

Can I bill in EUR, NOK, SEK or DKK instead of dollars?

Two separate things matter here. First, the currency of your own subscription: Coachway prices its own plan in NOK, SEK and DKK as well as EUR and GBP, and Trainero, Harbiz and Virtuagym bill in EUR on their European price pages, so your renewal is not a dollar amount that drifts with the exchange rate. Second, how your clients pay you: Coachway connects your own Stripe account (its optional built-in payments carry 2.4% per transaction), so client subscriptions settle in your currency and the price a client sees is the price they pay. The US and Canadian platforms price their own subscription in dollars, which adds an FX conversion and a non-local card fee to every renewal on a European card.

What about GDPR, and where is my client data stored?

A coach holds sensitive client data - health history, injuries, progress photos, body stats, payment details - which makes you the data controller under GDPR, with real duties, and health information can count as special-category data that deserves extra care. Your software is your data processor, so ask any platform two questions before you commit: will they sign a Data Processing Agreement, and where is the data stored, with any transfers outside the EEA covered by proper safeguards. Coachway is EU-built (Coachway ApS, Copenhagen) and GDPR-aligned and provides a Data Processing Agreement whose Appendix C lists where data is processed (hosting in the EU, Stripe in Ireland, error monitoring and some AI providers in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Get the same answer in writing from any vendor you shortlist. This is general guidance for European coaches, not legal advice; confirm your obligations with your national data-protection authority.

Does the client app work in Nordic and other European languages?

Two platforms in this set cover all four Nordic languages. Coachway's client app runs in six languages - English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and German - and each client picks their own, so a Norwegian client reads their plan in Norwegian while a German reads theirs in German; the coach dashboard is in English. Trainero's interface is available in 38 languages including Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish. Virtuagym's apps list 17 languages including Norwegian but not Danish, Swedish or Finnish, Harbiz is Spanish/English/German, Fitr and Trainerize are English-only, and TrueCoach runs in English, Chinese and Spanish. If your clients are Nordic or DACH, the app language is a real adherence lever, not a nicety.

Do European coaching platforms support Vipps or MobilePay?

Honestly, not for recurring billing - and this is a category-wide gap, not a point of difference. None of the coaching platforms here, Coachway included, natively support recurring Vipps or MobilePay: they all run recurring billing on cards through Stripe, and Stripe's MobilePay integration is a single-use wallet method that does not do recurring payments. True recurring Vipps/MobilePay needs the dedicated Vipps MobilePay Recurring API or a billing partner. If it is essential for your market, ask each vendor for their roadmap rather than assuming any of them has it today.

Is Coachway available across Europe, and how established is it?

Yes - Coachway is used by online coaches across Europe, with the biggest concentration in the Nordics. Every feature is included at EUR 69/month for up to 5 clients then EUR 9 per extra client, its plan is priced in EUR, NOK, SEK, DKK or GBP, client billing runs through your own Stripe account, the client app is available in six languages, and it is GDPR-aligned with a Data Processing Agreement. Be clear-eyed on the trade-off: Coachway is EU-built (Coachway ApS, Copenhagen) but newer (launched end of 2025) and smaller than Harbiz, Trainero, Virtuagym or Trainerize, so you are choosing a modern, coach-first all-in-one over a longer track record.
