CoachRx alternatives: pick by the reason you are leaving.

CoachRx is a serious tool for coaches who design every program by hand. Coaches look elsewhere when their business needs something it is not built around: recipe-based meal plans, a client app in another language, simpler workout delivery or team programming. This guide compares five alternatives on programming, nutrition, check-ins, payments, app languages and price, and walks through what switching actually involves.

By Markus Evers · Updated October 2026

How this comparison is made: CoachRx facts were checked on its own website, help center and App Store listing on 24 October 2026. Other platforms' figures come from our dated vendor pages. We build Coachway, so we flag it wherever it appears and say who each platform fits better than us.

the short version

The best CoachRx alternative depends on why you are leaving. For training, recipe-based meal plans, food logging, check-ins and payments in one client file, Coachway fits. For simple workout delivery, TrueCoach. For a broad North American all-in-one, Trainerize. For a free start, Everfit. For team strength programming, TrainHeroic. If individual program design and habit prescriptions matter most, CoachRx itself may still be the right tool.

the starting point

What is CoachRx and who is it built for?

CoachRx is a coaching platform from OPEX Fitness for coaches who design an individual program for each client. Its own site says it is built for "Individual Design Coaches" and leads with depth over volume. The core is a program calendar with periodization tools, an AI assistant called RxBot, 60+ OPEX-designed program templates and an exercise library of over 2,000 video demonstrations. Around that sit Lifestyle Rx for habit and lifestyle prescriptions, assessments, customizable weekly check-ins, messaging with voice and video, and Stripe billing. Pricing runs in client tiers from $29 a month, and every tier includes every feature (checked 24 October 2026).

In practice that makes CoachRx strongest in three places:

  • Individual program design. A calendar per client, periodization and planning tools, and a template library to start from, with an AI assistant to speed up the writing.
  • Assessments and lifestyle. An assess area with metric groups and a structural balance table, plus Lifestyle Rx for prescribing and tracking daily behaviours like sleep, stress and habits.
  • One price for every feature. No feature tiers; you move up only when your client count does.

If that describes your coaching, the honest answer may be to stay. The rest of this guide is for coaches whose business has grown in a direction CoachRx is not built around.

why coaches shop around

Why coaches look for a CoachRx alternative.

The reasons below are about fit, not about the quality of CoachRx's programming. Each one is tied to something you can check yourself.

  • Nutrition as meal plans, not only targets. CoachRx's features page describes a macro calculator, nutrition prescriptions with compliance tracking and macronutrient intake tracking. At the time of writing it does not describe a recipe-based meal planner or a food database clients log against. If half of what you sell is nutrition, that gap shows up every week. Our comparison of meal planning software for personal trainers covers the planner side on its own.
  • Clients who would rather not use an English app. The CoachRx app lists English as its language on the App Store. For a coach with clients in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands or Spain, an app in the client's own language is part of the service.
  • The step at client six. CoachRx moves from $29 to $79 a month when you pass five active clients. From about ten clients upward that is cheap per client, but for a coach growing from five to eight clients it is a big jump for a small change.
  • A different coaching model. Individual design takes time per client. Coaches who mostly deliver the same templates to many clients often want a lighter, faster workout tool, and team coaches want group programming built for squads.
  • Everything about the client in one file. Some coaches want the check-in, the program, the meal plan and the chat on one screen when they reply, rather than moving between views. Our roundup of check-in software for online coaches compares how platforms handle that weekly review.

What do users say about the CoachRx app?

On the US App Store, the CoachRx client app (listed as CoachRx by OPEX Fitness) had a rating of 3.6 out of 5 from 81 ratings when we checked on 24 October 2026. The written reviews are mixed. Clients and coaches praise personalized programming, regular coach check-ins and easy communication with their coach. Complaints include bugs and lost data, trouble finding or searching past exercise numbers (one reviewer says search went missing after a redesign), and, from one reviewer, Apple Health sync that reads data but does not write workouts back. One reviewer objected to AI writing client programs. Read the latest reviews yourself, because ratings move with every release.

A rating from 81 people says little about whether the platform fits your business. Treat it as a prompt for what to test in your own trial: open a client's history, log a session on your phone, and check what syncs with the wearables your clients use.

at a glance

CoachRx and the alternatives, compared.

Six platforms on the six things that decide a switch: how you build programs, how you deliver nutrition, how check-ins work, how clients pay you, which languages the client app speaks, and how the price grows with your client list.

the alternatives

Five CoachRx alternatives, and who each one suits.

Each card says what the platform is good at, when it beats CoachRx and when it does not. Coachway is first because we build it; read its trade-offs with the same care as the others.

01 · best when nutrition is half the job

Coachway

Coachway is built for online coaches who coach training and nutrition together. The workout builder handles supersets, dropsets, AMRAP, tempo, RPE, alternatives, warm-up sets, per-set logging and a rest timer, with 1,800+ exercises with video demos. Nutrition is a real meal planner with 1,100+ recipes and 3,900+ ingredients and auto-scaling macros, and clients log food against a 3.7 million item database with barcode scanning and a photo diary. Weekly check-ins run on custom forms with photos and measurements, and the Power Panel puts each client's numbers, progress photos, training log and latest messages on one screen, so a check-in review takes a few minutes. Chat includes voice notes and video messages, and the client app runs on iOS and Android in eight languages, carrying your own programs, meal plans, check-ins and prices.

It costs EUR 69 a month including up to 5 active clients, then EUR 9 per extra active client (USD 79 plus USD 10), with every feature on one plan. Clients pay you through your own Stripe account; the subscription takes no share of your coaching revenue, and built-in payments cost 2.4% per transaction. CSV and PDF export mean you are not locked in, and support is same-day and human.

Inside Coachway Coachway workout builder - a training program with sessions and sets beside the exercise library
Where a hand-built CoachRx block would land in Coachway: sessions and sets in the workout builder, with the exercise library alongside. See the workout builder

The trade-off: Coachway has no assessment module like CoachRx's structural balance table, no OPEX program library, no habit tracking and no session booking or calendar. Its exercise library is a little smaller. If those are central to how you coach, CoachRx serves you better.

02 · best for simple workout delivery

TrueCoach

TrueCoach is a fast, workout-first platform with a large exercise video library and simple pricing by active clients: USD 29.98 a month for up to 5, USD 69.98 for up to 20 and USD 164.98 for up to 50, a little less on annual billing. It suits a coach who mostly sends programs and comments on logged sessions. Nutrition is lighter: food logs come in through a MyFitnessPal sync from the Standard plan, and meal plans are shared as documents. Built-in payments cost 5% per transaction and only work for coaches with bank accounts in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Beats CoachRx if you want less to set up per client. Falls short if you rely on assessments, lifestyle prescriptions or real meal plans. More in our TrueCoach alternatives guide.

03 · best broad north american all-in-one

Trainerize

Trainerize (ABC Trainerize) is one of the most established platforms in the category, workout-first, with one of the deepest exercise libraries and a free plan for a single client. Pro starts at USD 25 a month for 5 clients and rises with the number of seats you pick, and there is a 30-day free trial without a card. The real bill depends on add-ons: Stripe Integrated Payments is USD 10 a month on Grow and Pro, and Advanced Nutrition is USD 20 to 45 a month depending on your plan. The interface is English only.

Beats CoachRx if you want a large, mature ecosystem and a long free trial. Falls short if you want every feature in one price or an app in your clients' language. See Trainerize alternatives for the wider picture.

04 · best free start

Everfit

Everfit has a free Starter plan for up to 5 clients that is not a time-limited trial, with the workout builder, exercise library, messaging and the client app. Paid Pro is priced by a client slider, from USD 19 a month at 5 clients to USD 290 at 300, and includes forms, basic meal plans, food journals and macro tracking. Automation, payments and the fuller recipe workflow are add-ons (Autoflow USD 29, Payments & Packages USD 9 and Meal Plans & Recipe Books USD 39 a month). Its client-language guide lists English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch and Italian; the coach side is English.

Beats CoachRx if you are small and want to start at zero cost. Falls short if you want one predictable price with nutrition, payments and automation included. See the Everfit review.

05 · best for teams and strength and conditioning

TrainHeroic

TrainHeroic is the closest match if your CoachRx work is strength programming for athletes or teams. It has a deep programming engine, an athlete app and a marketplace for selling prebuilt programs. Its pricing page (checked September 2026) started at $9.99 a month for one athlete, then $17.99 for up to 5 and $99.99 for up to 100, with marketplace fees on program sales. Nutrition is limited tracking rather than a full meal planner, according to reviewers, and the product is English-first. Garmin acquired TrainHeroic in July 2026; no pricing changes had been announced when we last checked.

Beats CoachRx if you program for squads or want to sell programs at scale. Falls short if you coach individual clients on nutrition and lifestyle. Compare it in TrainHeroic alternatives and software for strength and conditioning coaches.

price

How does CoachRx pricing compare with other coaching software?

CoachRx prices in client tiers with every feature on every tier: $29 a month for 1 to 5 active clients, $79 for 6 to 50 and $199 for 51 to 150 on its pricing page, or $25, $67 and $169 a month billed annually (checked 24 October 2026). That works out cheap per client once you pass about ten clients. TrueCoach runs USD 29.98 to 164.98 a month for 5 to 50 clients, Trainerize Pro starts at USD 25 for 5 clients and rises with seats, Everfit is free for up to 5 clients, and Coachway is EUR 69 including 5 active clients plus EUR 9 per extra client.

A worked example at 20 active clients, billed monthly: CoachRx is $79, TrueCoach Standard is USD 69.98, and Coachway is USD 79 + USD 10 x 15 = USD 229 (EUR 204). On subscription cost alone, CoachRx and TrueCoach are cheaper at that size. What the difference buys in Coachway is the recipe-based meal planner, client food logging against a 3.7 million item database and a client app in eight languages, all in the base price. Whether that is worth it depends on how much of your coaching is nutrition.

Three things change the real bill more than the headline price:

  • Add-ons. Trainerize charges separately for payments and advanced nutrition, and Everfit for automation, payments and the fuller recipe workflow. CoachRx and Coachway include every feature.
  • Payment fees. TrueCoach's built-in payments take 5% per transaction. CoachRx's pricing page does not state a payment fee at the time of writing. With Coachway the subscription takes no share of your coaching revenue; built-in payments cost 2.4% per transaction.
  • Where the tier steps fall. Price the client count you expect in a year, not today's. A tool that is cheap at 5 clients can cost more at 15, and the other way round.

One note on CoachRx: on 24 October 2026 its homepage example showed $149 for 51 to 150 clients while the pricing page listed $199, so confirm the current figure on the pricing page before you budget. For the wider market, see coaching software pricing compared.

fit

Is CoachRx a good fit for professional trainers and coaches?

Yes, for a specific kind of coach. CoachRx suits professional coaches who write an individual program for every client, want assessments and lifestyle prescriptions next to training, and run their practice in English. Its tiers include every feature, so a coach with 20 or 40 clients pays the same $79 a month. It is a weaker fit if nutrition is half of what you sell and you want recipe-based meal plans and food logging, if your clients would rather use an app in Danish, German or another language, or if you mostly deliver the same templates to many clients and want the fastest workout delivery.

You want recipe-based meal plans and food logging Coachway Meal planner with 1,100+ recipes and 3,900+ ingredients, plus client food logging with barcode scanning and a photo diary, in the same client file as training.

You mostly deliver workouts and want the simplest tool TrueCoach Workout-first, fast to deliver, large exercise video library. Its built-in payments only work in four countries.
You want the broadest North American all-in-one Trainerize Mature product, deep exercise library and a free 1-client plan; payments and advanced nutrition are paid add-ons.
You want to start at zero cost Everfit A free plan for up to 5 clients that is not a time-limited trial.

Whatever you shortlist, test it with one real client for a full week: build the program, set the nutrition, send a check-in and reply to it from your phone. A week with a real client tells you more than any feature list, this one included.

moving

Switching from CoachRx: what moving looks like.

Moving coaching platforms is mostly an evening of exports and a week of rebuilding the parts you actually reuse. Training history rarely imports cleanly from one tool to another, so the goal is to keep a record of the past and rebuild the present. CoachRx's help center documents two exports worth taking before you cancel.

  1. Export the client list. On the Clients page, use Export All (CSV). The file can include contact details, status, start dates, height and weight, tags and Stripe billing fields.
  2. Save a report per active client. From a client's calendar, export a PDF or text report. It can cover the workout calendar, structural balance, consultation notes, intake forms and short- and long-term plans.
  3. List the programs you reuse. Most coaches rebuild a handful of core blocks and their check-in questions, not every program they ever wrote.
  4. Map your billing. Open your Stripe dashboard, list every live subscription and decide the date each one moves, so no client is charged twice or not at all.
  5. Set up one client end to end. Program, nutrition, check-in form and payment in the new platform, then invite that client and run one check-in cycle.
  6. Move the rest, then cancel. Invite the remaining clients, run both tools for one cycle if you need to, and cancel CoachRx once every export is saved.

Moving to Coachway? It depends on your platform: from some platforms our team moves your clients over for you, free. Tell us what you use on the Coachway migration page and a person from our team tells you honestly what can move. The full checklist, with a tracker, is in how to migrate clients between coaching platforms.

questions coaches ask

Frequently asked questions about CoachRx alternatives.

What is the best CoachRx alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving. If you want training, recipe-based meal plans, food logging, check-ins and payments in one client file, Coachway is the closest fit. For simple workout delivery, TrueCoach. For a broad North American all-in-one, Trainerize. For a free start with up to 5 clients, Everfit. For team strength and conditioning, TrainHeroic. If individual program design, assessments and lifestyle prescriptions are what you value most, CoachRx may still be the right tool.

How much does CoachRx cost compared with other coaching software?

At the time of writing (checked 24 October 2026), CoachRx lists $29 a month for 1 to 5 active clients, $79 for 6 to 50 and $199 for 51 to 150, or $25, $67 and $169 a month billed annually, with every feature on every tier. TrueCoach runs USD 29.98 to 164.98 a month for 5 to 50 clients, Trainerize Pro starts at USD 25 for 5 clients and rises with seats, Everfit is free for up to 5 clients, and Coachway is EUR 69 a month including 5 active clients plus EUR 9 per extra client. Prices change, so confirm on each vendor's pricing page.

Is CoachRx good for professional trainers and coaches?

Yes, for coaches who write an individual program for every client and want assessments and habit prescriptions next to training, in English. It is a weaker fit if you sell recipe-based meal plans, need a client app in another language or mostly deliver the same templates to many clients. See who CoachRx fits above.

Does CoachRx have meal planning?

CoachRx's features page describes an integrated macro calculator, nutrition prescriptions with compliance tracking and macronutrient intake tracking. At the time of writing it does not describe a recipe-based meal planner or a food database for client logging, so check with CoachRx if you need those. Coachway includes a meal planner with 1,100+ recipes and 3,900+ ingredients, and client food logging against a 3.7 million item database with barcode scanning.

Can I export my clients from CoachRx?

Yes, in part. CoachRx's help center describes a client list CSV export from the Clients page, with contact details, status, start dates, body stats, tags and Stripe billing fields, and per-client reports as a branded PDF or text file covering the workout calendar, structural balance, consultation notes, intake forms and plans. Save both before you cancel, because training history rarely imports cleanly into another platform.

Is there a CoachRx alternative with a client app in other languages?

Yes. The CoachRx app lists English on the App Store. Coachway's client app runs on iOS and Android in eight languages (English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, German, Dutch and Spanish), and each client picks their own language; the coach dashboard is in the same eight languages. Everfit's client app lists English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch and Italian.

Can Coachway move my clients over for me?

It depends on your platform. From some platforms our team moves your clients over for you, free; for others you export from the old tool and set clients up yourself. Tell us what you use on the Coachway migration page and a person from our team tells you honestly what can move. You can start the 14-day trial without moving anyone.

CoachRx is a product of OPEX Fitness; we are not affiliated with it.
