Social media content calendar template for fitness coaches: four weeks, four pillars, eight columns.
A four-week grid that decides the day, the pillar and the format before you write a word, so the month is balanced instead of whatever you felt like on Tuesday. Pick three, four or five posts a week, switch reels, carousels, Stories and the newsletter on or off, rename the pillars in your own words, then print the sheet or copy the grid as CSV straight into Google Sheets. Free, no sign-up.

Pillars cycle education, proof, personal, then offer once a week; formats alternate reels and carousels; Sunday Stories and the Friday newsletter are their own rows. The hook, CTA, source and status columns are yours to fill, on paper or in the sheet.

A social media content calendar for a fitness coach is a four-week grid with eight columns: day, slot, pillar, format, hook, CTA, source and status, filled from four pillars (education, proof, personal, offer) at three to five posts a week. This template prints as a sheet or copies as CSV into Google Sheets.
What goes in a social media content calendar for a fitness coach?
Eight columns, and the first four are decided for the month before any post is written: day, slot, pillar and format. The last four are filled the week before the post: hook, CTA, source and status. A calendar with only the first four is a plan; one with only the last four is a to-do list that forgets the offer for three weeks. For the carousel rows, the twelve ideas with a cover line and an ask each are in Instagram carousels for fitness coaches.
| Column | What goes in it | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Day | The weekday the post goes out. Fixed slots beat "when I have time". | Tue |
| Slot | Post 1 to 5 of the week, so a missed day has a name. | Post 2 |
| Pillar | Education, proof, personal or offer. One pillar per post; offer once a week. | Proof |
| Format | Reel, carousel, Stories, or newsletter. The 46-point carousel thread is why carousels get a fixed slot. | Carousel |
| Hook | The first line, under eight words, with a number or a client question in it. | "2 kg up overnight. Not fat." |
| CTA | One ask: follow, save, comment a word, or none. | Comment PLAN |
| Source | Where the idea came from: a client question, a check-in, a longer post you split. | Sunday check-in, Anna |
| Status | Idea, drafted, filmed, scheduled, posted. Five words, one per box. | Drafted |
How many posts a week should the calendar hold?
Four, with three as the honest minimum and five only if the hooks are already written. The template defaults to four because of what happens at seven: a coach in r/InstagramMarketing posted every day for 90 days and reported reach getting worse, and the replies are a list of people who had tried the same. The format mix matters as much as the count: a 46-point post in the same community, "I stopped chasing short-form video reach. Carousels are actually doing the heavy lifting", is why carousels get a fixed slot here instead of being the thing you make when a reel falls through. The weekly split by funnel stage, with the finished 30-day example, is in the AI content calendar for fitness coaches.
How do you fill it in 30 minutes with ChatGPT?
Copy the grid as CSV, paste it under the 30-day calendar prompt with your pillars, your offer and three things clients said this month, and ask for the hook and CTA columns only; the day, pillar and format columns are already decided, which is what stops the model from producing a month of reels for strangers. The prompt, the seven inputs it needs and the follow-up prompts that turn a row into a post are in the AI content calendar prompt. Then write the actual hooks with the Instagram hook generator, the captions with the caption generator and the reels with the reel script generator, and run anything a model touched through the 12 rules for captions that don't sound like AI.
Can I use this content calendar in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes: download it as a CSV, which Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers all open as nine columns without conversion. The file holds the filled four-week example below plus twenty-four blank rows with the day, slot and status already in place, so it works as a planner from the first open; the builder above copies your own cadence and pillar names as CSV if you have changed them. In Excel, save as .xlsx once you have opened it; in either, freeze row 1 and put the five status words on the status column as data validation.

Where do the posts come from?
From the week you already had: a client question, a check-in line, a longer piece you split. The source column exists because the coaches who stay consistent do not sit down to "think of content". In the r/personaltraining thread on how fitness coaches stay consistent with posting, one coach writes a blog post first and splits it into the week's posts; another uses the question a client asked that day. The proof pillar has the shortest path: the client wins live in the check-in record, and in Coachway that record, the photos and the client's own words sit on one screen, so the Tuesday proof post is a permission message away. The newsletter row draws on the twelve ideas in email marketing for fitness coaches; the reel and carousel rows on Instagram content ideas for fitness coaches. The carousel rows are written slide by slide in the Instagram carousel template.
How do you fill the 30 days with ChatGPT from your funnel split?
Paste the calendar grid and your funnel split, and ask for the 30 days filled with the post types on this page, no hashtags and one call to action a week. The rules that keep a prompt from sounding like AI are in prompt engineering for fitness coaches.
Fill the 30 days
When to use it: When the grid is exported and you know your split between discovery, trust and offer posts.
What to paste in: The exported calendar grid, your funnel split as three percentages, and your three content pillars.
You are helping me, a fitness coach, fill a 30-day social media content calendar. I am pasting the empty grid from a template I trust, my funnel split as three percentages (discovery, trust, offer) and my three content pillars. Fill all 30 days using only the post types named in the grid, keeping the split within two posts of my percentages, rotating the pillars, and giving each day a topic line of under twelve words in plain language. One call to action per week, on the offer post, and none elsewhere. No hashtags, no emoji, no invented client results. If my split does not add up to 100 or a pillar is unclear, ask before filling. Return it as a table: day, post type, pillar, topic line. THE GRID [PASTE THE CALENDAR] MY SPLIT AND PILLARS Discovery: [N]% Trust: [N]% Offer: [N]% Pillars: [PILLAR 1], [PILLAR 2], [PILLAR 3]
Frequently asked questions.
What is a social media content calendar?
A grid that says which post goes out on which day, what job it does and where the idea came from, planned a few weeks ahead. For a fitness coach it has eight columns (day, slot, pillar, format, hook, CTA, source, status) and four pillars (education, proof, personal, offer), so the month is balanced before any caption is written. The calendar is the plan; the captions, hooks and scripts are written from it with the tools linked on this page.
How far ahead should a coach plan?
Four weeks of slots and one week of finished posts. The slots (day, pillar, format) are fixed for the month so the mix stays balanced; the hook and the caption are written the week before, from what clients asked that week, so nothing goes stale. Planning finished posts a month ahead is how coaches end up posting things their clients stopped asking about.
Can I use this in Google Sheets?
Yes. The "Copy as CSV" button copies the whole grid, header row included, and pasting it into an empty Google Sheet (Edit, then Paste, or Ctrl+V) splits it into the eight columns. Freeze the header row, add data validation on the status column with the five words, and you have the Google Sheets version most of the templates people search for; the print button gives you the paper version.
How many posts per week?
Four is the default here, and three is fine. A coach in r/InstagramMarketing posted every day for 90 days and reported reach getting worse, not better; the coaches who keep it up for years describe three or four posts a week plus Stories. The template offers three, four or five slots so the cadence is a decision, not a hope.
What are content pillars for a fitness coach?
The four jobs a post can do: education (teach one specific thing your client struggles with), proof (a client win with permission, a number, a before and after in words), personal (how you coach, what you got wrong, a day in the life) and offer (what you sell, who it is for, how to start). One pillar per post and the offer once a week keeps the feed from becoming either a textbook or a sales page. Rename them to your own words in the builder.
Is there an Excel version of this content calendar?
Yes, as a CSV file, which is the format Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and Notion all open without conversion. The download button in the Excel and Sheets section gives you the filled four-week example plus twenty-four blank rows with the day, slot and status columns already in place; open it in Excel, save as .xlsx, freeze row 1 and add data validation on the status column. The builder above copies your own configuration as CSV if you have changed the cadence or the pillars.
What does a filled-in social media calendar look like?
The example table on this page: twenty-four rows for four weeks, each with the day, the slot, the pillar, the format, a hook under eight words, one ask, where the idea came from and a status word. Week one is fully posted or scheduled, week two is drafted, weeks three and four are ideas with their source already written down; that is what a healthy calendar looks like on the first of the month, not four weeks of finished posts.
Do I need a paid scheduling tool?
Not to start. This grid, a notes app and the phone's own scheduling cover four posts a week; a scheduler earns its place when you batch two weeks at a time or run more than one account. This page ranks none of them, because the calendar is the part that decides whether the posts are worth scheduling.
Can ChatGPT fill this content calendar for me?
Yes: paste the exported grid, your funnel split as three percentages and your three pillars, and ask for the 30 days filled with the post types on this page, one call to action a week, no hashtags. Edit the topic lines afterwards; the model rotates pillars well but does not know which topics your clients actually asked about this month.
