Instagram hook generator for fitness coaches: 40 reel hooks from one topic.

Type your topic, who it is for, one number from your coaching and one question a client asked you this week. Pick the format and get 40 hooks across ten named patterns: number-led, confession, client question, scene, warning, short, plain truth, contrast without the formula, promise with a condition, and what I tell clients. Copy any hook, score it on the five-line sheet before you film, or send the whole thing to ChatGPT as the 100-hook prompt with your inputs filled in.

build forty hooks

Format

Every hook skips the tells: no "stop doing this", no "unpopular opinion", no "it's not X, it's Y", no emoji, no question stacked on a question. Patterns marked "fits" suit the format you picked. The score sheet counts words for you and leaves the other four lines to your judgement. Nothing you type leaves this page.

1. Number-led

  • 2 kg up overnight. Not fat.

2. Confession

  • I got rest-day weight jumps wrong for years.

3. Client question

  • "Why did I gain 2 kg overnight?"

4. Scene

  • Monday, 6am, scale says 2 kg up.

5. Warning

  • Do not cut calories over 2 kg.

6. Short

  • 2 kg. Explained.

7. Plain truth

  • Rest-day weight jumps. Normal.

8. Contrast, without the formula

  • The plan did not change. The number did.

9. Promise with a condition

  • If you weigh in daily, read this.

10. What I tell clients

  • What I tell clients about rest-day weight jumps.

Fills the 100-hook prompt from our hooks guide with your topic, audience and client question.

This Instagram hook generator fills ten named hook patterns with your topic, your number and a real client question, so the 40 hooks are specific to your coaching instead of generic first lines. It runs in your browser with no account, marks which patterns fit reels, carousels, captions or stories, and scores each hook on five lines before you film.

how it works

How does this hook generator work?

It fills ten hook patterns with your topic, your number and a real client question, so the 40 hooks are specific to your coaching instead of generic "stop doing this" lines; it runs in your browser with no account. Each pattern is a fixed skeleton with four slots in a set order, and your number or your client's exact words land in the first three words wherever the pattern allows. There is no model behind it, which is why it cannot invent a client, a number or a result; it rearranges what you typed. The format switch does not rewrite the hooks, it marks which patterns are built for a first slide, a first line, a single frame or a spoken open.

three rules

What makes a hook work on Instagram in 2026?

Three things: a first line only this post could have, a reason to stay one more second, and a version that works both said aloud and as on-screen text. Reels are distributed in tiers, and the hook decides the first tier, so a generic line caps the reach before the content is judged; the signals it competes for are in the Instagram algorithm in 2026 for fitness coaches. The craft behind each pattern, with the 100-hook prompt and the pattern-analysis prompt, is in how to write hooks as an online fitness coach. One line from the coaches on r/personaltraining asked what they post: educational content with strong hooks, and a real client question every day as the source.

Only this post

Your number or your client's words in the first three words. "2 kg up overnight" is yours; "the truth about weight loss" is everyone's.

One more second

Something unresolved that the body pays off: a warning, a scene, a promise with a condition. Bait resolves nothing and earns a scroll.

Said and shown

Say it to camera in one breath and put it on screen in under 8 words. If one of the two fails, the hook is a caption line, not a reel hook.

the ten patterns

Which of the ten hook patterns should you use, and when?

Use number-led, warning and promise patterns for a carousel's first slide; scene, confession, short and client question for a reel's spoken open; plain truth, contrast and what-I-tell-clients for a caption's first line; short and client question for a story frame. The table gives one example of each from the default inputs, and the format each fits.

How do I score a hook before I post?

Score it on five lines, one point each: specific, tension, promise, spoken and written, under 8 words. Four or five is worth filming; three is a rewrite; the "score these hooks" button above opens this sheet under every hook and counts the words for you.

Rewrite the generated hooks in my voice

The generator gives you the structure; your voice is the part it cannot know. Paste the hook and three posts you wrote yourself into the prompt below and the model keeps the structure, rewrites the wording the way you write, and removes the tells listed in how to write captions that do not sound like AI. How to write prompts like this one for your own coaching work is in prompt engineering for fitness coaches.

Rewrite the generated hooks in my voice

When to use it: After you have picked two or three hooks from the list.

What to paste in: The hooks you picked and three opening lines from your own posts.

You are rewriting Instagram hooks for a fitness coach so they sound like the coach, not like a template. Below are three opening lines from posts I wrote myself; learn my voice from them and use nothing else as a style source.

My opening lines:
[PASTE THREE OPENING LINES FROM YOUR OWN POSTS]

The generated hooks to rewrite (keep each pattern, under eight words each):
[PASTE THE HOOKS]

Remove these AI tells: em dashes, groups of three, "it is not X, it is Y", hedging openers such as "Let us be honest", and any line that sounds like a caption template. Keep my sentence length, my words for the client and my way of ending a post. Output one version only, no options, no explanation. If you cannot tell who the post is for from my samples, ask me one question before you rewrite.

after the hook

Where do hooks turn into clients?

In the comment section and the DMs, not in the hook. A hook earns the first two seconds; the body earns the save; a one-keyword ask earns the comment; and the conversation that follows earns the client. The mechanic end to end, including which reel formats convert and what to automate, is in Instagram reels comment-to-DM lead generation. Write the hook here and the caption under it with the Instagram caption generator; the caption's first line and the reel's spoken open should not be the same sentence. In Coachway the reply to that keyword has somewhere to land: intake, first check-in, the plan and payments through your own Stripe on one client screen. The hooks stay yours, written wherever you write them.

questions people ask

Frequently asked questions.

Is the hook generator free?

Yes. No account, no email, no limit. It runs in your browser and sends nothing to a server, which is why you can paste a real client question into it without anonymising it first; only what you copy leaves the page.

How long should an Instagram hook be?

Under 8 words for most patterns, because a reel hook has to be read as on-screen text and said aloud inside the first two seconds, and a caption hook has to fit before the "more" fold on a phone. Scenes and quoted client questions are the exception; they earn a few extra words because the detail is the hook. The score sheet marks the word count for every hook here.

Do hooks work for carousels and captions, not just reels?

Yes, and the same line rarely works for all three. A carousel hook is the first slide, so number-led, warning and promise patterns do the job; a caption hook is the first line before the fold, so plain truth, confession and contrast read better; a story hook is a single frame, so short lines and the client question win. Pick the format and the generator marks which patterns fit it.

Why does it ask for a client question?

Because a real question is the one thing no generator or model can invent, and it is the reason the client-question pattern outperforms the rest for coaches. One coach in an r/personaltraining thread on staying consistent put it as: every day a client asks you something, so use that as the post. The question you paste becomes four hooks directly and shapes the scene and what-I-tell-clients patterns too.

Can I use these hooks on TikTok?

Yes. The patterns are about the first two seconds, not the platform. On TikTok the spoken version matters more than the on-screen text, so favour the scene, confession and client-question hooks, and keep the number in the first line; the score sheet's "spoken and written" line is the one to be strict about.

Does it use AI?

No. It fills ten named patterns with your topic, your number, your audience and your client question, so it cannot invent a client or a result. If you want a model to write more, the "make it a ChatGPT prompt" button fills the 100-hook prompt from our hooks guide with your inputs; that prompt carries the same rules (no "stop doing X", no "unpopular opinion", no emoji, at least 20 hooks with a number).

Can ChatGPT rewrite the generated hooks in my voice?

Yes. Paste three opening lines from your own posts and the hooks you picked into the prompt above; it keeps each hook pattern and its length under eight words and rewrites the wording the way you open a post, without the AI tells. Test the rewrites the same way as the originals: the first three seconds of the reel decide the watch time.

Keep going: the six hook shapes with examples and the 100-hook prompt in how to write hooks as an online fitness coach, the story frames in Instagram story ideas for fitness coaches, the post bank in Instagram content ideas for fitness coaches, and both prompts in the free AI prompt pack for online coaches. Write the hook here and the 30 seconds after it with the reel script generator.
