How to Switch from Exercise.com: Exports and Stripe Checks

Exercise.com's exports are spread across Accounts, Reports and the Business Dashboard, and we found no help article describing a single full-account export. The bigger risks sit in the terms and the app setup. These official pages show what you can save, what they do not cover and the order to do it in.

Exercise.com documents separate exports for client contacts, measurements, assessments, logged workouts and charges, and PDF printing for workout plans. Payments run through a Stripe Express account. Its terms ask for notice at least 15 days before your term ends and say your data is deleted on cancellation, so save and check every export first.

Published by Coachway. The product instructions below come from the linked official documentation, checked September 25, 2026. They describe available exports, not a completed test of your account or a guarantee that another platform can import the files.

What you can export from Exercise.com

Clients, free accounts and group members: Export Accounts

Exercise.com's contact export starts in Accounts. Filter the accounts you want, tick the box next to the Name field to select all filtered accounts, open the three-dot menu, choose Export Accounts and confirm with Export. For free member accounts, set the Lifecycle Stage filter to Free Account first. Group members export separately: open the group from Groups, go to Members and click Export Member Info.

The article says this lets you back up client data, but it does not say which fields or which file format the download contains. Open each file before you rely on it, and run the export once for every filter and group you use so no one is missed.

  1. In Accounts, set your filters and tick the box next to Name to select all filtered accounts.
  2. Open the three-dot menu, choose Export Accounts and click Export.
  3. Repeat with Lifecycle Stage set to Free Account, then use Export Member Info inside each group.

Measurements and assessments: exports per client

Select clients in Accounts, open the three-dot Bulk Manage menu and choose Export Measurements. You pick a date range and the measurements to include; all measurements are exported by default. Profile fields are optional, and if you leave them blank the file only includes first and last names. The single-client guide says the file downloads from the notification under the bell icon once it is ready.

Add the profile fields you need to match rows to the right client, since names alone can repeat. Completed assessments have their own three-dot menu with view, edit, download as CSV or delete. The Assessments report lists each assessment with the client's name, email and phone number and a link to view it, which works as an index, but download the CSV of each assessment you need to keep.

Workouts: logged history as reports, plans as PDFs

Logged workouts export as a report. Go to Reports, then Workout Reports, then Logged Workout History, choose the date and group, click Refresh Report and use the export icon. Workout notes have their own export: open Logged Workouts from the dashboard, tick the box to show only workouts with notes, search and click Export. Exercise.com says it notifies you that the CSV is being exported. Its general reports guide says the Export button generates a CSV file in a new browser tab.

For programs, the articles we found document printing, not a plan file. Print Workout opens a PDF in a new tab, and View Plan offers Print this workout and Print entire plan. A PDF is a reference for rebuilding, not a file another app can load. Rebuild a few representative plans in the destination first so you can estimate the rest of the work.

Exercise.com payments run through a Stripe Express account

Exercise.com's Connect Stripe guide sets up a new Stripe Express account from Account > Connected Apps, with payouts sent to a bank account or debit card you connect. You open that Stripe dashboard from Connected Apps with View Stripe Dashboard. Exercise.com notes that payments start as a pending balance and become available on your payout schedule, so keep the connection in place until the last payouts have arrived.

Stripe's Express Dashboard documentation lists balance, payouts, payments, refunds, disputes and financial reports, and the platform chooses which of these you see. It does not list a customer or subscription export, so build your billing record in Exercise.com. On the Business Dashboard, Charges > Export All Charges > All Platform Charges runs a charges export, and Exercise.com emails you when it is ready. Run the Active/Scheduled Subscriptions report too, since Exercise.com's reports guide says a report's Export button generates a CSV file. Each client's Subscriptions tab also shows Payments Remaining, Contract Start Date, Last Payment Date and End Date.

Moving recurring billing is a separate task. Ask Exercise.com and the destination provider how the subscriptions in this Express account can be handled. Stripe documents a Billing migration toolkit that covers moving subscriptions from an existing Stripe account, but that does not mean either platform supports it for your account. Exercise.com's Cancel On Date option schedules a client's cancellation for a future date, so you can line up the last old charge with the first new one and no one is billed twice.

If you move to Coachway, payouts go to your own Stripe account and its built-in payments cost 2.4% per transaction. The subscription questions above still apply.

Cancelling deletes your data, and notice runs against your term

The summary at the top of Exercise.com's terms says subscriptions run for an annual, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly term and renew automatically. To cancel, you notify Exercise.com at least 15 days before the end of your term, by email to [email protected] or through the product dashboard, and on cancellation your data is deleted from its servers. For Exercise.com for Business, the terms say you pay for the contract term without refunds and can cancel for future contract periods. That summary is dated May 11, 2022, so check the term dates and notice period in your own agreement.

Save and open every export before you give notice. We found no help article on exporting nutrition logs, message threads or progress photos, and the nutrition log is documented as a view in the client's Nutrition tab. Ask support what they can provide and keep the reply. The Return or Deletion of Data section of Exercise.com's Data Processing Agreement only describes deleting personal data on request. If you need more time, the terms say you can ask to suspend your account and payments for up to one year. Exercise.com decides, and keeps your data for at most that year.

A branded iOS app runs through your own Apple developer account

Exercise.com's app setup articles say a custom-branded iOS app is published through an Apple Developer Program membership that Apple charges $99 (USD) a year for. You invite Exercise.com ([email protected]) to your App Store Connect with the Admin role so it can publish the app on your behalf. For individual enrollments, the article asks you to forward your Apple ID and password to the Exercise.com team. The organization article warns that the app is removed from the App Store within 24 hours if your Apple membership expires.

The help center does not say what happens to the branded app when you leave, and the publishing articles we found cover Apple only. Its platform page says branded apps appear in the Apple App and Android Play stores, so ask Exercise.com what happens to both listings. Once your clients are using the new app, remove the Exercise.com user from App Store Connect and change your Apple ID password if you shared it.

Auto Renew contracts do not end on their own

Exercise.com payment plans can run for a set number of cycles with a contract behavior of Cancel or Auto Renew. Exercise.com says Auto Renew does not cancel the subscription after the last payment; the payment count and contract start date reset instead. Check which behavior each plan uses before you assume a contract will end on its own.

If you used Customize Platform to stop clients deleting their accounts or cancelling subscriptions, they cannot cancel on their own, so scheduling each cancellation is your job. Deleting a client means confirming Remove as client(s) and delete account(s), so export that client's records first.

Before you cancel Exercise.com

  1. Run Export Accounts for each filter you use, including Free Account, run Export Member Info for each group and open every file.
  2. Export measurements with the profile fields you need, and download the CSV of every completed assessment you want to keep.
  3. Export Logged Workout History and workout notes for your full date range, and print the plans you will rebuild.
  4. Export All Platform Charges and the Active/Scheduled Subscriptions report, and record each client's payments remaining and end date.
  5. Give notice at least 15 days before your term ends, and only after your exports are checked and each client's last and first charge dates are agreed.

Choose the switch date after a sample migration passes. The required overlap depends on rebuild work, provider support, client availability and billing dates. Clear communication helps, but it cannot guarantee retention or repair missing data.

Use the full migration checklist and client message to plan each wave. If you are still evaluating the destination, use the software trial scorecard. Keep any sample shared for an initial assessment limited to what the provider needs.

Questions about leaving Exercise.com

Can I export my client list from Exercise.com?

Yes. In Accounts, filter and select all, then choose Export Accounts from the three-dot menu. Group members export from each group with Export Member Info. The article does not list the fields or file format, so open the file and check it before you rely on it.

Can I export Exercise.com workout plans?

The help center documents printing single workouts and entire plans, which open as PDFs, and a Logged Workout History report for completed workouts. We found no article on exporting plans as an editable file, so plan to rebuild programs in the destination from those PDFs.

What happens to my data when I cancel Exercise.com?

Exercise.com's terms say your data is deleted from its servers on cancellation, and that you should give notice at least 15 days before your term ends. Save and check every export first, or ask about the suspension option in the terms.

Considering Coachway? Bring a sample export and ask us which parts become editable plans, which need rebuilding, what remains an archive and how your existing billing would be handled. Agree the scope before inviting your clients. If you are still deciding whether to switch at all, the Coachway vs Exercise.com comparison sets the two side by side.

The trial starts with a card held by Stripe and cancels under Billing before it renews, so you can run a few real clients in both tools before you move the rest.
