Client check-in reader.
A check-in is a pile of signals that often disagree: weight flat, adherence high, sleep low, stress up. Enter the week and this resolves them into the ONE move that matters - hold, push, pull back, recalculate, fix a behaviour, or refer out - names the single lever to change and what to leave alone, and drafts the client reply. It reads the note for anything that needs a professional, not a calorie change. Nothing is stored.
The read
Client reply
This is one check-in. Coachway is your whole roster. The Power Panel puts every client's numbers, photos, log and note on one screen, so you run this read across 40 clients in a morning - each in 3 to 5 minutes - then reply from the same place.
Read your real check-ins in Coachway - 14 days freeHow do you read a client check-in fast?
Resolve every signal into one primary move: hold, push, pull back, recalculate, fix a behaviour, or refer out. Read them in the order that decides the outcome - adherence first (you cannot judge a plan the client did not follow), then recovery (poor sleep and high stress cap results whatever the diet says), then the weight trend against the goal. Change only one variable this week and say what you are NOT touching, so next week's result is attributable. Flat weight with high adherence, five hours of sleep and high stress is a recovery problem, not a reason to cut calories - hold and protect sleep instead.
One limiter, one change, one attributable result.
The reason check-ins take fifteen minutes and still produce muddled changes is that the signals disagree and it is tempting to touch several at once. A fixed order fixes it: adherence, then recovery, then the trend. Whichever is the real limiter this week is the only thing you change, and you tell the client what you are deliberately leaving alone. Do that every week and every result means something. The reader builds the structured check-in for you too - see the client check-in builder - and the deeper how-to is in faster client check-ins at scale.
Frequently asked questions.
How do you read a client check-in quickly?
Resolve every signal into ONE primary move: hold, push, pull back, recalculate, fix a behaviour, or refer out. Read them in order of what limits progress: first adherence (you cannot judge a plan the client did not follow), then recovery (poor sleep and high stress cap results regardless of the diet), then the weight trend against the goal. Change only one variable this week and say explicitly what you are NOT touching, so the client has one thing to focus on and you can attribute next week's result. Flat weight with 90% adherence, five hours of sleep and high stress is a recovery problem, not a reason to cut calories.
What is the biggest mistake coaches make reading check-ins?
Changing more than one thing at once, and reacting to noise. If you cut calories, add cardio and change the program in the same week, next week's result tells you nothing about which lever worked. And a single flat week early in a phase is usually normal variation, not a stall - especially for women around the menstrual cycle, or after a salty meal, travel or a hard session. The fix is a fixed review order, one change at a time, and enough weeks of data before you call a stall. This reader enforces exactly that.
When should a check-in trigger a referral instead of a coaching change?
When the client's note points to something clinical rather than a training or nutrition adjustment: signs of disordered eating, significant mental-health distress, chest pain or dizziness, or an undiagnosed or worsening injury. Those are a dietitian, doctor, therapist or physio, not a calorie change. This tool scans the free-text note for that language and, if it hits, replaces the coaching output with a refer-out step - because the right move there is to get the client the correct support, not to tweak the plan.
Is the check-in reader free, and does it store client data?
Completely free, and nothing is stored - every field is typed in for one read and gone when you leave. It drafts a coach's decision and a client reply from rules and templates; it is not clinical advice, and you review before sending. Reading one pasted check-in here is the manual version of what Coachway's Power Panel does across your whole roster: every client's numbers, photos and note on one screen so each read takes 3 to 5 minutes.
